Kids Voting in School
Civics Alive! Curriculum: We continue to encourage area educators to use our curricular resources in public, private and home school settings and then facilitate the Kids Voting student vote either on-line or with our downloadable paper ballot.

2012 Lesson Plan Packets are available for download from the Buncombe County and Asheville City School Systems' intranets or by email request to: info@kidsvotingbc.org.

New this year: Monthly Activities: Kids Voting USA is highlighting a  specific  curriculum activity for each grade category once a month.  Each activity will focus on a specific theme as well as a skill and discipline.

Additionally, navigation of the full Civics Alive! Curriculum on our national website kidsvotingusa.org  has been greatly enhanced. Contact us for access information.

Kids Voting in After-School
This year, Kids Voting BC will continue to facilitate the use of our civics curriculum and "real life" voting experience in after-school programs,  summer camps and other youth focused activities (scouts, leadership groups etc).  If you'd like to use our After-School Curriculum in your program please contact us.

Kids Voting Election
Again this year, students will be able to vote on-line or with a paper ballot at home, in school, in after-school programs or with the adults in their lives at polling locations during the Early Voting period (Oct. 18 - N0v. 3) and on Election Day.

Kids Voting Day, Tuesday, November 6, 2012 will be the culminating event for our Election 2012 "real life" balloting experience. All Buncombe County polling locations will be staffed by Kids Voting volunteers, many of whom are high school students, who will assist our young voters as they practice exercising their rights and responsibilities as informed American citizens.

2012 High School Forum: Kids Voting and the Buncombe County Board of Elections will host a number of events focusing on the election process in the spring and fall for high school student groups, their teachers and faculty advisors.

As part of our KVBC High School Program, students raise election awareness, promote voter registration to students turning 18, encourage participation in the KV election and advise Kids Voting/Buncombe County on student issues. They are trained as KV precinct captains and volunteers and can earn community service credit.

Kids Voting actively recruits high school students to serve as Kids Voting Precinct Captains. Precinct Captains recruit other volunteers, work with election officials, set up the Kids Voting balloting area, and help young voters cast their vote on Kids Voting Day.

This volunteer job offers the opportunity to earn up to 20 hours of community service for school, club, or college application requirements.
